Revisions to be considered by the Arizona and California LGMAs

On April 30, 2013 Western Growers hosted a webinar/web discussion to share and get feedback on potential revisions to the current leafy green guidance documents utilized by the Arizona and California LGMAs. The proposed revisions were supported by the majority of the participants. A summary of this discussion and the proposed revisions are attached below.

Comments received during and after the webinar have been addressed. Proposed revisions are attached for your convenience and review. Any final comments on the attached documents will be accepted by June 14, 2013.

Proposed amendments to the LGMA metrics now available

Sept. 22 was Western Grower’s deadline to submit proposed amendments to the leafy green industry guidance document commonly known as “LGMA metrics.”

Western Growers has received 30 proposed amendments from 5 different parties. Input or comments on proposed amendments may be submitted before or during an upcoming webinar to be announced. Results of this webinar will be presented to the LGMA Technical Committees in Arizona and California.

LGMA technical groups in Arizona and California accepted changes to the metrics

Recommended changes to the metrics as a result of WG’s amendment process were discussed by LGMA technical groups on June 22nd and July 12th. Of the 12 recommended changes to the leafy green guidelines document, 6 were accepted in Arizona and 5 in California by the Arizona LGMA Technical Subcommittee and the California LGMA Technical Committee respectively. Accepted changes by these committees must go before the Arizona LGMA Marketing Committee and the California LGMA Advisory Board respectively for approval in their upcoming meetings.

Final summary and comments ready for the LGMA technical groups in Arizona and California

After comment periods, a webinar and an opportunity for final comments, a summary of the April 19th webinar and a copy of leafy green guidance documents (with tracked recommended changes) are ready for consideration by the AZ LGMA Technical Subcommittee and the CA LGMA Technical Committee. These documents can be accessed below.

You can submit any comments through this website, by email at ssalas@wga.com or by fax at 949-809-6251.

WG is accepting proposed changes and comments on Issues 2, 3, 4 & 5 of the metrics

WG is receiving proposed changes and comments from February 14, 2011 to March 16, 2011. Comments will be accepted for a few more additional days. Only any final comments (not proposed changes) will be received by March 31, 2011.

At this time, we are looking for proposed changes and/or comments about the following sections of the leafy green guidance documents:

Issue 2: General Requirements
Issue 3: Environmental Assessments
Issue 4: Water
Issue 5: Water Usage to Prevent Product Dehydration
