New Comment Period Opens March 10, 2014

From March 10, 2014 to April 10, 2014, WG will be gathering proposed changes to 7 of the 15 issues included in the leafy green guidance document. Two word versions of these issues are attached for this purpose (the first one includes parts of the Arizona guidance document and the second one of the California one). Proposed changes may be tracked in these documents and submitted by email at or by fax at 949-809-6251.

On April 30, 2013 Western Growers hosted a webinar/web discussion to share and get feedback on potential revisions to the current leafy green guidance documents utilized by the Arizona and California LGMAs. The proposed revisions were supported by the majority of the participants. A summary of this discussion and the proposed revisions are attached below.

Comments received during and after the webinar have been addressed. Proposed revisions are attached for your convenience and review. Any final comments on the attached documents will be accepted by June 14, 2013.

From March 06, 2012 to April 6, 2012 Western Growers was asking for proposed changes to Issues 13 & 14 of the document ( Production Locations). This period closed without proposed changes related to these sections. However, a previous idea in a different section was resubmitted for consideration. This proposed change was accepted by the Arizona LGMA in a previous period, but was not accepted by the California LGMA.

January 2012 Update on the LGMA guidelines

• Six amendments to the LGMA leafy green guidelines were accepted
The Arizona LGMA Technical Subcommittee and the California LGMA Technical Committee reviewed the 17 proposals presented as a result of this vetting process during their meetings on January 10th and January 18th, respectively. Of these proposals, six were recommended for consideration as official amendments (please see attached document). Western Growers should be announcing a new comment period sometime in February.

• California LGMA guidelines have been updated

Summary of proposed changes is now available

The summary below contains all the proposals discussed last year, they are listed by proponent as “Recommended” or “Rejected” based on the discussions hosted November 21 and December 15, 2011. Of the 29 proposals received by Western Growers, 17 are being recommended through this process. This summary will be presented to the Arizona and California LGMA Technical Committees for consideration early this year. Only the proposals accepted by these committees will be reviewed by the California LGMA Advisory Board and the Arizona LGMA Marketing Committee respectively for final approval.

Sept. 22 was Western Grower’s deadline to submit proposed amendments to the leafy green industry guidance document commonly known as “LGMA metrics.”

Western Growers has received 30 proposed amendments from 5 different parties. Input or comments on proposed amendments may be submitted before or during an upcoming webinar to be announced. Results of this webinar will be presented to the LGMA Technical Committees in Arizona and California.

Western Growers opens new period for comments

WG is opening another opportunity to submit proposed changes to the metrics from August 22, 2011 to September 22, 2011.

WG is specifically asking for proposed changes to Issues 8,9 10,11 & 12 of the document (Harvest Equipment, Harvest Personnel, Field and harvest Personnel Transfer and Equipment Facilitate Cross Contamination). Although WG encourage you to follow a systematic review of the document by using our Master Schedule (see attachment below); emerging or key issues may also be submitted at this time.
