Western Growers held a webinar on Monday January 31 from 8:00 -8:30AM PST.

During this webinar, participants learned about WG's enhanced process and tools to strengthen the leafy green guidance documents utilized by the Leafy Green Marketing Agreements in Arizona and California. This webinar also introduced this new leafy green community website.

Safety and Quality of Organic Leafy Greens

On November 9, 2010, the University of Arizona (UA) announced that it will be receiving funding from USDA to conduct a study aimed at increasing the safety and quality of organic leafy greens as well as profitability for farmers. This project also includes outreach and an education program.

Food safety training kit for leafy green field workers

On November 2, 2010, the Arizona Leafy Greens consortium’s initiative to educate field workers in safe food handling practices was announced in the Western Farm Press. This initiative seeks to ensure the integrity of leafy greens grown and shipped from Arizona.

As a result of this initiative, a bilingual food safety training program has been developed. The program is administered by the Arizona Marketing Committee and closely monitored by USDA-licensed inspectors. For their press release visit:
